What is Sufism?

Sufism is the inner, spiritual dimension of Islam — a path of love, devotion, and direct experience of the divine. Sufi mystics across centuries have expressed this journey through poetry, music, dance, and art. The whirling dervish, the qawwali singer, the poet Rumi — all are expressions of the same Sufi truth: that love is the only language the soul understands.

The Poets Behind Our Drops

Every Sufi Soul collection is rooted in a poet, a verse, or a Sufi concept:

Rumi (Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi) — 13th century Persian poet whose verses on love, loss, and longing remain the most widely read poetry in the world. His words live on our tees.

Bulleh Shah — 18th century Punjabi Sufi poet whose rebellious, boundary-breaking verses challenged religious orthodoxy and celebrated divine love above all.

The Sufi Concepts We Wear

QALB — The heart. In Sufi philosophy, the qalb is the spiritual centre of the human being — the seat of divine light and love.

ISHQ — Divine love. Not romantic love, but the overwhelming, ego-dissolving love of the mystic for the divine.

FANA — Annihilation of the ego. The Sufi state of dissolving the self into the divine — the ultimate goal of the spiritual path.

The Whirling Dervish

The whirling dervish is Sufism's most iconic image. Dervishes of the Mevlevi Order spin in a meditative practice called Sema — a physical prayer, a dissolution of the ego through movement. The left hand faces down, receiving divine energy from the earth. The right hand faces up, channelling it toward heaven. The spin is not performance — it is surrender.
